We attended Cielo Gala 2019, which celebrates the work of the Latino Commission on AIDS. Held at Cipriani Wall Street, the night was filled with music, great food and drink and dancing.

We got a chance to talk with the night’s fashion presenter, New York designer Raul Penaranda, who shared the secrets behind his design philosophy.

“I design because of the love and respect I have for my mom and my sister. And that emotion I want to share with every woman in the world,” He told the DivaGals on the red carpet.
“Women need to be empowered because they are everything and without them, there would be no man. They are basically the queens of the universe.”

The night also featured the Spanish Harlem Orchestra led by Oscar Hernandez. Honorees of the night included Maureen M. Goodenow, director of the NIH Office of AIDS Research; Lorena Borjas, founder and CEO of Colectivo Intercultural Transgrediendo and Miss Universe 2019 Catriona Gray.

MAC Cosmetics, one of the gala’s sponsors, returned again to do mini-touchups. We love the sparkles our MAC maven added to our eyes!
