WE WERE THERE! New Museum Spring Gala 2025 & The Saint Celebration in Harlem
By Maureen Martin | May 8, 2025 | The Soft Life
The New Museum hosted its annual gala in the iconic Cipriani South Street. The air hummed with anticipation from the moment we stepped inside for an evening dedicated to celebrating the power of creative visions.
The New Museum’s knack for curating groundbreaking exhibitions and remarkable gatherings was again on display. The venue, adorned with exquisite floral arrangements, offered breathtaking panoramic views of the shimmering Hudson River, creating an atmosphere of artistic energy and heartfelt appreciation.
The grand hall buzzed with a diverse assembly of artists, discerning curators and passionate art enthusiasts, all drawn together by a common thread: a profound love for artistic expression.
The evening’s honoree, Paula Cooper, was rightfully celebrated for her monumental contributions to the art world. The heartfelt tributes shared in her honor resonated deeply, filling the room with a tangible sense of respect and profound admiration for her enduring legacy.
Did we mention the traffic-stopping fashions? While we opted for a demure navy satin suit, other guests were dressed to the nines. The attire was tasteful and served soft girl life. Count on the artsy crowd to have impeccable hair, makeup, and exquisite tailoring.
The gala poignantly reminded us of art’s unique ability to forge connections between us all and the vital importance of supporting the institutions that champion its accessibility. It was, without a doubt, a truly special night—a harmonious blend of beauty, grace, and a collective passion for the transformative power of artistic expression.
The Saint Celebrates Turning One!

Last week, we had to glide over to The Saint for its first anniversary. This place? It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a destination where New York’s heart truly beats, in Hell’s Kitchen and inches from Broadway.

The owners know how to throw a party. It’s every Thursday night. It’s ladies’ night and an opportunity to catch up with your girlies while the DJ spins music you can dance to. The aesthetic? It elegantly muted earth tones. If you can find a spot at the bar, you’ll rub elbows with socialites, seriously talented artists, entrepreneurs, sports figures, and Broadway types.
And the food? Last night we enjoyed spicy chicken sliders, shrimp tacos, and the perfect lobster roll. Ask the bartender/mixologist for their take on a “Manhattan”; their version is prepared with Don Julio Tequila. They crafted signature drinks, so ask the bartender, who will recommend something delicious you are guaranteed to enjoy!

But the real magic? The owners are Anderson Labaze, Courtney Richardson, Rene Jacques, and James Jones. You can feel the love they’ve poured into this place. They were there, greeting everyone, looking luminous. It wasn’t just business; it was their passion project, their heart on a plate (and in a glass, and the ambiance…).

The Saint isn’t just serving food; they’re creating an experience. We were so fortunate to soak it all in. Here’s to many more years of exquisite dining, divine company, and delicious details!
