Tennis great Venus Williams joined SoFi, a digital-first bank, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) with an exclusive, invite-only dinner at Nine Orchard in NEw York City. And the DivaGals had a seat at the table!

Hosted by Williams and SoFi’s Head of Investment Strategy, Liz Young Thomas, the dinner honored the federal law prohibiting discrimination in credit transactions based on certain factors, empowering women to take charge of their financial futures.
The dinner marked this historic milestone by launching its “Give Her Credit” campaign. SoFi will provide $10,000 to 50 ambitious individuals to fund projects advancing women’s financial independence. This initiative, headlined by Williams and Cameron Brink, is part of SoFi’s broader $500K commitment to supporting women’s financial empowerment.

During courses, Williams shared how her mother, Oracene Price, is a fiercely independent woman who worked tirelessly to build a better life for their family and instilled in her the value of financial independence.
She also spoke about how her first major tennis prize money was less than that of her male tennis counterparts. She emphasized the importance of giving women their equal share and how federal laws like ECOA helped set that in motion.

The night was a glamorous and empowered evening of female equality.
