Every once in a while, TV DivaGal likes to take her natural for a spin. Since I get very little length once it’s washed, I’m always seeking that special one-two punch that will give me a little more elasticity in my curls, and I found it …
Invited to the CurlyNikki Meetup event inside the Millesime Lounge at The Carlton Hotel in New York City, I learned that sponsor Mizani, a top hair care line, categorizes tresses into eight types. I’m a type seven, very coiled. One of the Mizani stylists on hand suggested I try Therasmooth Shampoo and Conditioner, which is “engineered to smooth without commitment.”
The shampoo lathered up nicely and didn’t leave my hair feeling dry or knotty. I then put in the conditioner and a plastic cap, leaving it on for about five minutes while in shower. Upon rinsing I noticed that my curls did seem a little looser and surprisingly shiny. Using a mixture of oil and and Nexxus Pro-Mend on my edges, I twisted my hair into several sections and then took each one out to blow dry. Upon finishing my head (including a quick clip of my dry ends) my hair looked straighter and a little more full without pressing.
Of course, that look can only last so long when you’re whizzing around the Big Apple. A few days later, my hair needed a little pick-me-up. I squeezed in some True Textures Curl Soft, which helped accentuate my natural spirals into a cute little ‘fro.
