One of our favorite action stars, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson showcases what his life was like at age 10, in high school and during his first years at college on his new autobiographical series Young Rock.

Three actors take on this massive task: Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant and Uli Latukefu respectively, and all say these were big shoes they were happy to fill. “DJ gave great insight into what it was like to be him at that age,” shared Bradley, who plays Dwayne at 15. Adrian added that Dwayne, “did a really good job on coaching us on how to play the roles.”

Uli, who has The Rock’s speech pattern down pat, summed it up. “Dwayne was incredibly open and helpful with everything, really. He made himself available at all hours, Uli revealed. “He didn’t really give any kind of guidance other than just to be true and have fun with the role.”

We also learn more about Dwayne’s father Rocky Johnson (played by Joseph Lee Anderson), who was on the wrestling circuit for most of The Rock’s formative years. “The tricky thing about this is to find that balance of the complication of who he was as a man and the tough love he raised me with,” Dwayne confessed. But there is no confusion when it comes to how he saw his father, who passed away in 2020. “He had this unique ability to always make someone feel good,” Dwayne shared. “I was really, really impressed by that, that was an important quality, I think, that my dad had.”

Young Rock, helmed by The Rock and Fresh Off The Boat‘s Nahnatchka Khan, premieres tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
