Chatting With NCIS New Orleans’ Scott Bakula!

There is one good reason the DivaGals will be watching the series premiere of NCIS: New Orleans tonight, and that’s Scott Bakula. The Quantum Leap alum is leaping back to his roots, as the Missouri native is starring in a show that takes place in the south.

TV DivaGal swooned caught up with the actor at CBS Summer Press tour to ask him as many questions as destiny would allow me!

You’re from the South. Does this show, which is shot in New Orleans, feel like returning home?

In terms of the weather and the humidity, I was ready for it. Some people weren’t. They were complaining about the weather when we shot in March, and I said, “Wait, it’s really coming!” I certainly understand the people and the world of the south.

How does it feel to be in a criminal procedural drama, which is a little different from what you’ve done in the past.

I am happy with this world. The mystery and the solving is good, and that’s all in the writing, but also the relationships between people in the cast.┬á The nature of my character, Special Agent Dwayne Cassius Pride who is all things New Orleans, he was raised there with 20 years in the NCIS. He loves the music, the fun, the scene, the parties, he really adores it. He probably loves it more than his wife, and that’s why his relationship is in trouble.

I am a big fan of your Broadway musical Romance, Romance and all the singing you did on Quantum Leap. Could we get a musical episode of NCIS: New Orleans?

We’re going to have music all the time. I’m actually playing the piano. We’re going to have some fun stuff.

You’re celebrating your 60th birthday on Oct. 9, and you look fantastic. As a fellow Libra, what are your special day plans?

I’m going to be in New Orleans, and there is a chance I may have to go to a college weekend for one of my sons. I can’t not do that.

Please, tell me now: Is a Quantum Leap reunion ever possible?

I would consider it. I’ve always been ready, willing and able. But it’s never come to fruition. The longer it goes, the less chance that I would be a part of it.

Would you approve of someone else taking over the role?

Oh, yes. I love what the show is about. Anything that puts it back out there would be a good thing.

Only if you’d play a part in some way Mr. Bakula! Watch Scott tonight on the series premiere of NCIS: New Orleans, Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. on CBS. Read our interview with Scott’s co-star CCH Pounder.
