Why Kelly Hu Is So Excited To Be On Fallen Angels Murder Club Working With Toni Braxton – Lifetime Press Tour Winter ’22

Lifetime is continuing its world of murder mystery dramas … with a twist! Fallen Angels Murder Club is the book-to-screen anthology of a book club filled with ex-cons. TV veteran Kelly Hu is starring in the series, and she had lovely things to say about her co-star Toni Braxton, who leads the anthology.

Braxton stars as Hollis Morgan, who was left holding the bag in an insurance fraud scheme concocted by her ex-husband. After serving her time, she joins Fallen Angels Murder Club with others who love books and have a criminal record. When a member of her book club is murdered in a scene straight out of the previous night’s novel, Hollis sets out to solve the crime.

Hu plays Joelle, a recent widow living with a stepson she can’t stand. “This was just a fun role, and working with Toni was a blast,” she declares. “Seriously, I have never met a kinder, more generous actress.” How generous? “We were on set and there was an extra who was such a huge fan of hers. And in between scenes I went up to her and I said, ‘Oh, there’s a guy over there. He’s a musician. He’s just a big fan of yours.’” Hu explains how Toni immediately jumped up and asked where he was, so they could go meet him. “She was so amazing… [she’s just an] awesome a human being, and it was awesome to work with her.”

Hu is also digging her role for another reason. “Joelle doesn’t do any martial arts, which I’m pretty thankful for these days.”
