If you watched the season premiere of The Voice last night, like TV DIVAGAL did, you may have noticed that reinstalled coach Usher wasn’t turning in his chair as often of his fellow celebrity mentors. TV DivaGal knows why!“Outspoken and unspoken is really what causes me to turn my chair, even when other coaches went ahead and hit their buttons,” Usher explained at a private VIP screening of the season opener yesterday.
The gold shoe wearing artist — who sported them again yesterday — admitted that he once hit his button before the song really began, due tot he competitive atmosphere between the coaches. “But then I began to fall back,” he shared. Why the change?
“A lot of times it is being able to see how the talent react to the turn,” said Usher in reference to another coach turning before him. “They know they’re on the show and they lose it a little bit, so it’s like, what happens now,” he explained. “Because every artist goes through the stardom, that shock of being the star or the artist. If you have sustaining power, it’s because you can deal with the pressure.”
We’re pretty sure it’s nerve-wracking to wait for you to turn Usher. But your frugality was worth it since you scored the little gal with the big soulful voice Bria Kelly! Catch part 2 of blind auditions on The Voice tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
