The 2017 Upfronts: What WeΓÇÖll Be Watching This Season on FOX!

By   |   May 16, 2017   |   Entertainment

Fox is celebrating its most-watched primetime lineup in years … and serving up its 300┬áepisode┬áof Family Guy. The network’s motto is ΓÇ£breakthrough programming,ΓÇ¥ and that promises to continue with a slate of series that take on space, the supernatural and Shazam (Jamie FoxxΓÇÖs new music competition series premieres May 25). Lethal Weapon, starring main funny man Damon Wayans, is returning, along with our fave new guilty pleasure, The Mick. Hey, any network that serves up the casts of Empire and Star singing Donna Summer‘s “I’m Coming Out,” has got our attention.

Here are the shows we canΓÇÖt wait to see on FOX this upcoming season.

Ghosted (Sundays)
WhatΓÇÖs It About?┬áCraig Robinson headlines this sci-fi comedy about two average joes who get the call — to save the world from alien invasion.
Our Divalicious Take. Talented funny man Robinson is getting to use his timing and physical chops in a new comic vehicle. WeΓÇÖre not entirely sold on the showΓÇÖs premise, but we wonΓÇÖt be ghosting Robinson, one of our fave actors.

The Orville (Thursdays)
What’s It About? Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane steps from behind the animation to play a spaceship captain who may be in over his head leading this crew.

Our Divalicious Take. MacFarlane knows how to bring on the funny (It’s Family Guy’s 300th episode, yo!), so we’ll see if it translates into live action comedy set 400 years into the future. The cast is definitely diverse with a slate of aliens co-habitating with humans on the ship.

9-1-1 (Midseason)
WhatΓÇÖs It About? This new procedural drama explores the lives of first responders: cops, paramedics, firefighters ΓÇô on and off the clock. The new series headlines Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett.
Our Divalicious Take.┬áThis series is coming from American Horror Story creators┬áRyan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, who ADORE Angela. So even if the show is blah, she’ll look and sound fabulous.
Star (Wednesdays, midseason)

The Resident (midseason)
WhatΓÇÖs It About? Peek into the lives of three doctors at different stages of their careers, along with a dedicated young nurse, in this “provocative new medical drama. Manish Dayal stars as first-year resident Dr. Devon Pravesh, Shaunette Ren├⌐e Wilson as Dr. Mina Okafor and┬áValerie Cruz as Renata Lopez.
Our Divalicious Take. Lots of diversity with this one. With solid writing and top-notch acting, it may be worth checking into this hospital weekly.
