African Movie Academy Awards: Meet Nominee Ezra MabengezaBy Maureen Martin | October 22, 2019 | Entertainment
Hey Divas! One of our favorite actors Ezra Mabengeza is up for the “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for the feature film Sew The Winter To My Skin at this year’s African Movie Academy Awards. Ezra is an amazing talent and we couldn’t be more excited.
Here is what he has to say about the honor: “Being in South Africa and making this film was simply breathtaking. It anchored me in my Ori, my ancestry and my heritage, and opened my path.”
Sew The Winter To My Skin is based on a true story. John Kepe was an Apartheid-era folk hero who proclaimed himself the “Samson of the Boschberg.” For decades, he stole livestock and other goods from white colonist farmers and shared his spoils with the impoverished Indigenous population.
