Baldwin Hills Crenshaw in California — the black Beverly Hills — held its annual holiday bash featuring a live musical performance by GRAMMY-nominated soul artist Aloe Blacc. The musical performance was a part of its annual “Holiday Winter Celebration,” a partnership between BHC and Eighth District Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson. Councilmember Harris-Dawson is a lifelong South Los Angeles resident who has served as a community organizer in the area for many years.

Aloe, who’s known for his song, “I Need A Dollar,” gave a rousing performance, as did the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. And there was an appearance by Santa Claus!

Thousands of local children who participated in a toy giveaway, choosing from gifts donated by area merchants and event sponsors, and real snow was brought in for activities including sledding, making snowmen and even a few snowball fights hosted by the BHCP KidsΓÇÖ Club. All activities were free and open to the public.
