Carnival Celebration’s Newest Zone: The Gateway! Everything You Need To Know Before You Go!
By Delaina Dixon | June 9, 2022 | TravelDivas, we love a Carnival cruise! So we’re bringing you the drop on Carnival Cruise Line’s newest vessel: Carnival Celebration. The name, which was first introduced into the fleet in 1980, has been passed on to a brand new Carnival ship, which is set to sail this November from Miami! Here’s everything you need to know to plan your getaway — just in time to celebrate Carnival’s 50th anniversary!
There are six zones on Celebration
Like its sister ship, Mardi Gras, there are six zones on this vessel. They are 820 Biscayne, a Miami-themed lounger area; The Ultimate Playground with Carnival’s new sea roller coaster; Summer Landing, a chill hangout with dining, lounging and shopping outlets; Lido with Carnival’s third Shaquille O’Neal chicken joint; Celebration Central featuring 50 years of Carnival memorabilia; and the last completed zone, The Gateway, which is what we’re focused on today.
The Gateway is an immersive odyssey
The sixth zone on Celebration is The Gateway. Inspired by grand terminals, transportation stations and departure points around the world, The Gateway’s entertainment, shopping and dining features will play on global themes for a unified immersive experience.
The Gateway: Latitudes
Start at Latitudes Bar, Celebration’s travel-inspired bar like the one you’d find in an airport or train station. This glistening spot features highback chairs with passport stamps — the perfect place for worldly cocktails from around the globe. It also has one of Celebration’s dynamic new points of interest: a split-flap travel board that will reveal pertinent information about activities throughout the ship. It will also recognize more personal moments, like a birthday or wedding proposal, during Latitudes’ “Happy Hour.”
The Gateway: Emeril’s Bistro 1397
The Gateway also includes the second seagoing restaurant by world-renowned chef and restaurateur Emeril Lagasse. Emeril’s Bistro 1397 is named after Celebration’s hull number. The menu will offer the best of international cuisines and flavors presented with a special Carnival flair for breakfast, lunch and dinner, based on Emril’s favorite dishes from his travel across the globe.
The Gateway: Virtual Reality
In yet another addition that makes Celebration oh-so-cool, it has 12 high-definition multimedia virtual windows with a state-of-the-art sound system, orchestrated to create a truly immersive guest experience. These virtual screens will be the focal point of Celebration’s theme nights like “Abroad in Europe,” “Far East Voyage” and “Mexico Lindo.” Themed evening will include short multimedia shows with lighting and sound, which are complemented by dining, drinking and entertainment options featuring that theme throughout the zone. The Gateway also has a large digital map display showcasing the locations of Carnival’s ships around the world in real-time.
Plus… All Your Carnival Faves
Carnival Celebration also includes main dining rooms Carnivale Restaurant (forward), named after Carnival’s second ship, and Festivale Restaurant (aft), named after Carnival’s third ship. You’ll also enjoy guest favorites like the cocktail pharmacy-themed Alchemy Bar, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Carnival Kitchen and Limelight Lounge.
