TV DivaGal is officially at TV Press Tour Summer ’18. First up? Fox Network!
Think retirement living can’t get raunchy? FOX’s new comedy series The Cool Kids is set to dispel any boring myths. It won’t be that hard since its cast still feel like kids themselves, as declared by star Martin Mull at the show’s press panel. Co-star David Alan Grier agreed. “I still feel like IΓÇÖm a kid, but I donΓÇÖt look like one,” he declared.┬áLeslie Jordan, who you may recall from Will and Grace fame, stated that at a certain age, it’s hip versus cool. “We are cool,” he said, adding that at their ages, “curiosity, generosity and kindness are important traits. When you get old you really need them more.” Star Vicki Lawrence said, “It’s pretty┬ádamn good” to be┬áthe single gal in this lively foursome. “The odds are way better than normal. It’s lovely.” Ummm, yeah, just in case you were wondering, the kids in this retirement home ain’t afraid to frolic! And Vicki noted one cool thing about being a senior. “Discount wine on Tuesdays.” We can so get with that!
Rel, from Get Out star Lil Rel Howry, is based on his comedy act of real-life experiences. At the panel, the cast shared who they’d really like to come guest on the show. “Whoopie Goldberg — I’d love for her to play my mom,” Rel shared. He also wants Eddie Murphy to come, and he can do “whatever he wants.” Executive producer and fellow comedian Jerrod Carmichael wants Dianne Wiest – ok! Of course, Sinbad, who plays Rel’s dad on the series, has the best request. “I want Roseanne on the┬áshow getting stuck in a black restaurant,” he declared. “That’s when you really learn about life, when you’re stuck in a restaurant with a room full of brothers and sisters.” We wouldn’t that miss that episode for anything!
FOX also announced that it will premiere The Masked┬áSinger this upcoming season.┬áBased on a Korean hit, the competition series features celebrities facing off against one another with one major twist: each singer is shrouded from head to toe in an elaborate costume, complete with a full face mask to conceal his or her identity. Celebrity panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke try to figure out the celeb’s identity during their performance. So who are the celebs performing? We’ll find out each week as one contestant is eliminated. But note: these celeb competitors collectively have 65 Grammy nominations, 16 multi-Platinum albums, 16 Emmy nominations, nine Broadway shows, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and four Super Bowl titles. Not too shabby!┬á Nick Cannon hosts and he confessed he’s tried on some of the costumes. They are heavy! Celebrities also get to pick their own costumes, which really allows them to showcase a part of their personality we may have never known about before. The Masked Singer joins the FOX lineup January 2019.
