Congratulations are in order for Michael R. Jackson. The author of the Tony award-winning musical, A Strange Loop has been named on the Ebony 100 Power List for 2022. The musical tells the story of Usher, a queer, Black man who’s writing a musical about… a queer Black man trying to write a musical. While that definitely defines the title, it’s also about a queer Black man trying to figure out who he — to his family, to his partners, to himself. The DivaGals joined Jackson and cast after a show for a champagne toast in his honor. Jackson broke out into song, singing the lyrics Sheryl Lee Ralph sang after winning the 2022 Outstanding Supporting Actress, Comedy Emmy for Abbott Elementary.
