GAL APPROVED! See The Upside. Watch Dear John – A Very Cautionary Tale!By Delaina Dixon | January 11, 2019 | Gal Approved
SEE. Kevin Hart wants you to know him as more than just a comedian with his new film, The Upside. This remake of the hit French film Intouchables is based on the true and incredible friendship of a quadriplegic and his unlikely caretaker. Kevin plays Dell Scott, a parolee who was just looking to get his work search papers signed when he stumbles into an interview to be a caretaker to billionaire Phillip Lacasse, played by #WBWD Bryan Cranston. Phillip hires him on the spot. Of course, Dell brings some much-needed sass and substance to Phillip’s life, helping him enjoy things like his vast collection of luxury cars. And Phillip introduces Dell to opera. There are missteps too that leads to a confrontation between the pals. While the movie does play into several stereotypes, Kevin and Bryan do such incredible jobs, you’re willing to look beyond them. There are some very funny moments in the film that will make you laugh out loud. And that’s the best type of heartfelt drama.
WATCH. Sometimes our white sisters can teach us very important life lessons. If you’ve been watching Dear John, Bravo’s real-life-inspired limited series, you know that when you meet a man too good to be true, that’s most likely the case. In Sunday’s finale we find out how Debra Newell finally escapes the charismatic but psychotic con-man John Meehan and yes, it’s brutal. All we can say is,”Debra girl, you’re in danger.” We’re glad she can still share her story today. Dear John airs Sunday, Jan. 13 at 10 p.m. on Bravo.
