This Girl Boss’ Store Will Make You Feel Like You Live in L.A. (Even If You Don’t!)By Regan Farley | September 19, 2017 | Food Fashion Style
A few things that I will forever love: great smelling perfume, a good book and an ever better candle. And at the top of my list is a candle that reminds me of my time well spent living in Los Angeles and one that mirrored the exact neighborhoods in which were close to my old home.
The LA-based brand Intuition.LA has a unique line of soy-based candles that pay tribute to the many areas of LA. I had a chance to have the “Inglewood” candle with a scent that lingers, even when the candle isn’t lit. It’s red orange topped with magnolia and freesia, rich vanilla cream and jasmine. The Inglewood candle (priced at $26), comes from Intuition.LA’s “Welcome Home” Collection, an ode to Alexandria Greenwood, Intuition.LA CEO/founder’s South LA upbringing.
I loved it even more because I was able to identify with each of the candles in the collection because I knew the neighborhoods so well, so fresh but so sweet! It’s a must-have; a little bit girly a lil bit lux! Even without lighting the candle the strong smell filled my bedroom, leaving everyone to ask me where I got the candle from. Because I loved it so much I had to buy more and even some other products from the store.
I got the “Leimert Park” (an area I used to live in), and a “Glow Up” tee to support this girl boss. Not only did I love the candle and Alex’s really amazing shop, I would be remiss not to mention what she is doing for female entrepreneurs.
A girl boss in her own right, Alexandria not only cares about creating profit for herself but also assisting other young women with grants and funding to start their own business. Alexandria has given away more than $17,000 to WOC who use their intuition and start businesses that grow their community.
Says Alexandria, ΓÇ£When I started Intuition.LA, I could not find any grant programs that I qualified for or spoke to what I was trying to accomplish. I looked and prayed, and even though there are a lot of black women who owned businesses, none offered grants for new businesses. I think we all have a responsibility to give back and help support the future generations. My goal is to help women create a culture of givers and leaders. I appreciate EVERY SALE. This is my way to give back.ΓÇ¥
