Do you want to know how to wear prints this summer season? Aysha Saeed, CEO and creative director of ethical, sustainable women’s fashion brand AYSHA NY. She’s sharing the secrets to picking the right prints this season for your body and style.

What are the top trends this summer?

The top trends this spring and summer are multi-functional wardrobes and styles. They can take you from your home office to your after-work happy hour with friends. Transitional looks that became popular last year when the pandemic started will continue to be in demand. People want stylish outfits that are also comfortable. The summer looks from our “Dressing for the Now” collection feature pants, skirts and dresses. The dresses have expandable “stretchy” waists so that they accentuate curves while also being comfortable. Bold prints will continue to be popular this summer. People heading to the pool and beach will want to stand out with bright summery looks.

How to pick prints for your body (and your comfort level!)

Always choose prints you feel comfortable in. If you love a print, but just can’t imagine how you would possibly style it, leave it behind. Most likely you’ll struggle fitting it into your wardrobe.

Big prints like large florals look best when the full print is visible, like on a long, flowing dress.

For tops, tanks and blouses, a small to medium-sized print is the better option, since a large print can get lost on small-sized fabric.

Three tips to know while shopping on a budget this season.

1. Seasonal Appeal and Transitions

The perfect spring dress is versatile enough to be worn year-round. If you can see yourself wearing the dress at least nine months out of the year it is a justifiable splurge. If you purchase a spring or summer dress with earth tones, you can pair them in the fall and winter with black tights, black boots and a cardigan, or even put a funky turtle neck over the dress and then it becomes a skirt. Buy tops that are versatile for work Zoom calls, but still comfortable if you want to keep it on while working from home.

2. Versatility & Accessorizing

Don’t buy something super trendy if it is expensive. Opt for earthy tones and darker hues you can wear tights under and a cardigan or funky turtleneck on top to change up the look. This way, you’ll get the most out of the style and be able to change it up along the way. Scarves can also upgrade a look–pair a solid scarf with an outfit that has patterns and vice versa. Balance is always key when accessorizing your clothing, more is not better. Scarves can update your look on Zoom too!

3. Quality

If you are spending $300 or more on a garment, it should stay with you for at least three years.

How to balance prints in your closet.

It’s best to identify styles you know you can easily match with accessories and garments you already have in your closet. If you have a lot of neutral colors in your closet, buy styles that incorporate browns, blues and greys. Our “Lori Dress” features these colors and you can accessorize it with gold jewelry and tan or neutral wedge sandals for a complete look. Accordingly, if you have a lot of loud bright colors in your wardrobe, you’ll need to stick to styles in that color palette.

The one fashion item you must have this season.

Lastly, a style that has versatility is very powerful. You want something you can always count on as a go-to for any occasion. That means vacations, brunch, work meetings and a night on the town all in one.

The Blousette is lightweight and never wrinkles. It can elevate a pair of jeans and a cocktail dress.  A perfect choice to tuck in your carry-on bag or your purse. And since it’s loose-fitting, you can opt for long sleeves or push them up for a ruched, billowing effect.
