How To Look Great – And Not Break Your Bank (Just In Time For Fashion Week!)By Delaina Dixon | February 14, 2018 | Food Fashion Style
Hey Divas! We’ve been having an amazing NY Fashion Week! These seven days are all about fashion – and we know how important it is for yours to be on point – and that starting point is at home in front of the mirror!
Then you got to work that look out on the town, on a hot date or even killing it at a job interview. And let’s face it – clothes can get expensive! But a smart DivaGal knows that while you look like a million, you don’t have to pay that price! We want to share some of our favorite secrets to looking luxe – without having to break your precious piggy bank.
SELL YOUR WARDROBE. Let’s be real -┬ámost of us simply have way too many clothes: boxes of clothes spilling out from under our beds and closets door can barely close because they’re straining from the sheer volume of stuff inside it!┬á We could all do with cutting back a little bit if we’re totally honest with ourselves. Time to get rid of some pieces!┬áStreamlining your wardrobe┬ácan put a little cash in your pocket and can also help you look great too! How? Stocking your wardrobe with quality separates you can mix and match in a whole variety of different ways is a start. You won’t have to worry about buying something new every time you need a new outfit. Concentrate on killer accessories and shoes, and your outfits will always feel fresh and new. Hit the internet to find if there are places that will buy your gently used items – we like Buffalo Exchange – or consign them. And you can sell your clothes in an online community like Poshmark.┬á┬á
SHOP SMARTLY.┬áSure, you CAN spend a lot of money on a designer item – the style and quality are gonna be there. But that’s usually for a special occasion. What about the rest of the week/month/year? We are sure you know there some amazing discount fashion stores like T.J. Maxx (one of our faves) or Saks Off Fifth. But if you really want to be in the know, you may want to turn to the experts. One of the coolest is┬áBudget Fashionista, a┬ábudget-friendly style blog┬áthat’s been in the game for a minute (and run by a fellow brown gal!). The blog offers fashion news, how-to styling advice and of course, shopping ops! Now if you’re like us, and love super cute pieces at super low cost, check out Shein.com – one of our fave online shopping destinations.
Our EIC is in LOVE with this dress she scored on the site – for the low price of $20! You can get yours too (she doesn’t mind sharing the love with our affiliate!).
RENT IT. OK, we know we told you to sell and streamline your wardrobe. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have ever-changing fashion – you just need to rent it. Companies like LeTote.com and RentTheRunway.com offer unlimited mid-priced and designer fashion for a monthly fee. You can switch out your wardrobe regularly for the amount you’d pay for a great blouse or a killer pair of heels. Or you can rent your own designer pieces.┬á
DEFINE YOU!┬áLooking great is┬áall about attitude. If you have the confidence to strut your stuff – no matter what – you can make pretty much anything look good! Vintage and second-hand stores can offer some amazing finds at budget-friendly prices – and you can spin these fun finds into a style that uniquely your own.┬áFind clothes that you like and that make you feel confident, and you’ll always look and feel like a million!
