Meet The Stars of Aladdin! Star Sonya Balsara (Jasmine) Reveals Her Beauty Secrets!

Can you believe that Disney’s Aladdin has been on Broadway for nine years? This musical adaption of the hit 1992 Disney movie has been praised for its diverse casting, which includes actors of East Asian and Indian descent in the leading roles of Aladdin and Jasmine!

The DivaGals visited with several members of the cast, including Sonya Balsara, who is making her Broadway debut in the production. “I was a little kid watching the movie on VHS and I obsessed with it,” she declares.

Balsara, actually played Jasmine in a seventh-grade production of Aladdin Jr. “I always saw myself and Jasmine, she was the princess I could be growing up. And now I get to professionally play her. So it’s been a beautiful journey.” With her Indian (Parsis and Hindu) and Iranian heritage, the actress is ecstatic to play all parts of her background on stage. “I actually get to be all that I am on stage, and I’ve never gotten to do that,” she gushes.
