By Delaina Dixon & Maureen Martin | October 26, 2022 | Entertainment
If you’ve been watching Reasonable Doubt, the first scripted drama from the Onyx Collection on Hulu — and we know you have — you’ll see that its leading lady Jax Stewart, played by Emayatzy Corinealdi, is one sassy lawyer. From codeswitching to cursing to cocktails, she’s brash, brazen and totally fearless… well, maybe not in that opening pilot scene — what the heck is going on? (We’ll find out in the season finale!)
We turned to series co-producer Pete Chatmon, who joined the team and directs Reasonable Doubt‘s upcoming explosive season-ender, to learn how he helped flesh out Jax’s character. Her style, her speech and her handsome roster of suitors? Chapman made that. He also shared the challenges of being a Black director in Hollywood, and why staying in the game is the only way to win. Watch our exclusive interview below!
