SHOWTIME Winter Press Tour ’19! Why Desus & Mero Don’t Do Canned, Planned Interviews!By Delaina Dixon | February 1, 2019 | Entertainment
Comedy duo Desus Nice and The Kid Mero gained a loyal following with their “Bodega Boys” podcast, then moved Viceland’s first daily, late-night show. Now, these besties from the Bronx are taking their late night game to their new platform Desus & Mero on Showtime. For guests planning to sit down on \ new late-night series, they won’t have to bother with a pre-interview. These dudes don’t do planned interviews.
“Don’t come on the show only to promote something,” Desus shared during his series’ press panel, adding “be ready to talk about your life.” These guys won’t have celebs answering to same, old boring questions. They actually ask guests what questions they never want to be asked again. And they say the celebs love that.
Desus and Mero are also taking their show to the streets, allowing their community to be a part of the show.
The duo is thrilled over the fact that they can bring an image to screen that’s often ignored in late night. Mero shared that people walk up to them and say, “You sound like me, dress like me and talk like me.” It’s a proud feeling to be representing.
Desus & Mero premieres Feb. 21 on Showtime.
