Don Cheadle stars as Marty Kaan, a slick management consultant who always dresses for the occasion. We caught up with series costume designer Christie Wittenborn to get the secrets behind Don’s onscreen wardrobe!
To capitalize on Marty’s polished look, you’re going to have to go custom-made. “I would describe Marty’s style as a modern take on English traditional. All his suits in the series (with the exception of the pilot) were made in the traditional Bespoke way,” Christie reveals. “I wanted to have total control over the fabric used, the cut and fit, and the way the suits were constructed. The devil is in the details and there are features in his suit that I was able to customize and not be limited to what was available in the stores.”
Get your own customized suit at Michael Andrews Bespoke, located in New York City. The company, founded by former corporate attorney Michael Andrews, specializes in custom-made shirts, pants, overcoats and tuxedos. Suit prices start at $1000.
Marty knows how to make things pop with a touch of color in his ties and pocket squares. “Most of his ties are by Tom Ford and Lanvin,” Christie shares. “His pocket squares are Hermes and Tom Ford.”
Pop up your wardrobe with a baby blue Tom Ford silk tie.
Tune in next week when we reveal the secrets behind series co-star Kristen Bell‘s effortlessly, Parisian-inspired chic style! And Catch House of Lies every Sunday at 10 p.m., only on Showtime.
