SYTYCD’s Laurieann Gibson On That SHOCKING Elimination Monday Night!

Divas! You know that TV DivaGal loves her So You Think You Can Dance. I just got back from Los Angeles where I was on hand for the Top Eight taping. I had to stay mum over the elimination of Benjamin Castro, a contemporary dancer from Miami, Fla., who left the show on Monday. And I’m still in shock.

Speaking to judge Laurieann Gibson, I found out what may have been behind Bejamin’s exit. “[Ballroom dancer] Ezra [Sosa]’s solo was just so remarkable, and sometimes when that happens, you can’t deny, when all those things line up for a dancer,” Laurieann shared.

“Benjamin’s gonna be good. I think he gave a little too much to his partnership (with Anna Linstruth) and didn’t save enough for himself in the end.” Laurieann takes comfort knowing, “I can go see them on tour.”

We also had to ask about Laurieann’s amazing hairstyle that night. “There are two bobby pins in my hair doing a mean tango,” she said with a laugh. “I like the braids, they do take care of your hair for some time. It’s a way to let the hair grow and keep it cute. So glad Fox like my braids.”
