The Secret’s Out: The Drama is a Masterclass in Film Press Tours
By Elizabeth Paige Richardson | March 31, 2026 | Celebrity & Culture
It’s the kind of press attention that studios dream of: a whirlwind press tour, a presenting gig at the Academy Awards, and tons of posts on social hyping up the lead actors. Before A24’s The Drama premieres nationwide on April 3, the film already has a tight grip on social media, and its stars, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, have a chokehold on entertainment headlines and gossip accounts.
Although there are spoilers floating around online about the drama’s plot, we won’t spoil them here for fans who still want to have the shock factor in theaters. But the basic outline is still gripping enough: a young couple is on the verge of having their picture-perfect engagement shattered when one of them reveals a dark secret that’s impossible to ignore.
We’re getting flashbacks to 2024’s Challengers. But what else has been charging the buzz around this studio’s latest release as fans wait to see if the project lives up to the hype? Here’s a spoiler we will give you: it’s a masterclass in press appearances.
Zendaya’s looks have dominated the headlines again.
We’ve yet to be left disappointed with a Zendaya outfit on the press tour.
The actress—and her stylist Law Roach—is never afraid to play with themes on the carpet (again, see Challengers). From long, silky-white gowns to a lacy cover-up that resembles the intricate bridal veil, the actress has been making an unmistakable fashion statement that’s fit to walk down the aisle.

Taking it a step further, the star has been channeling a classic Western wedding tradition each time she steps out. Zendaya told Variety, “I remembered the saying: ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’”
In what is arguably the most iconic look of the tour, Zendaya chose “something old”; she donned the same outfit that she wore to the 2015 Academy Awards—where she was infamously mocked by Giuliana Rancic—with a silky bob. Sauntering down the carpet at the film’s premiere in LA was the ultimate statement that Zendaya’s starpower is here to stay.
A crashed wedding went viral on TikTok
We can’t resist a good street marketing stunt.
Real-life couples lined up to get married at A24’s Las Vegas wedding chapel—operating for one day only on March 14. What they didn’t expect at their ceremonies was counting Zendaya as an extra-special wedding guest, who also acted as a witness to their union. Of course, the moment was reposted all around TikTok and Instagram. Some lucky couple has a great photo memory for their wedding album!
The moment only added extra fuel to online sleuths trying to uncover whether Zendaya and her costar Robert Pattinson have walked down the wedding aisles themselves to make it official with their respective partners. The Drama may not be a fairytale, but fans of each icon are hoping that they got their happily ever afters.
Globetrotting stars on premiere red carpets
Of course, star power like this transcends a single country; the stars have jetted off to some of the most romantic cities in Europe to open up the movie to a global audience.
Outside of the states, the first stop on the stars’ premiere list was the City of Love on March 24, which drew plenty of love and fanfare from the Parisian press. The duo then snapped some pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower—a can’t-miss destination when trotting around Paris (even on a work trip).
The costars were on deck to support the film in Rome, posing together on the red carpet on March 26. The stars also stopped by an Italian TV talent show, Amici, to promote the film in coordinated black outfits, drawing applause from the audience.
When a movie is poised to go global on the scale of The Drama with the backing of two beloved stars, how can we predict that this will be anything but a love story for the studio?
