The Voice’s Cait Martin from “Team Kelly” Is In The Playoffs Round on the Hit NBC Series!By The DivaGals | April 24, 2023 | Entertainment
During last Monday’s episode of NBC’s The Voice, artist Cait Martin, 32, from Atlanta, Ga., competed during the Knockout round and has advanced to the Playoffs. She is part of “Team Kelly.”
It’s absolutely phenomenal being part of “Team Kelly,” says Martin. “I couldn’t have imagined being on any other team. Before we even got out to LA to figure out what we were going to be doing, we didn’t even know who the coaches were. But they asked everyone, ‘If you could have any coach from all of the seasons of The Voice, who would you want?’ And I said, ‘Oh, Kelly Clarkson without a doubt,’ because I see so much of what I want to be as an artist and an entertainer in Miss Clarkson. And so finding out that not only was she an option, but the fact that she was the first person to hit her button and turn around for me in seconds, I couldn’t look at her. I’m just going to look past her… and just finish the song.”
Martin has spent years performing and traveling as a theatrical vocalist on tours and cruise ships. In 2019, she got a call that her sister Jaimie collapsed at work from a pulmonary embolism. She rushed home to be by her side, but Jaimie died a few days later at the age of 32. Martin lost her lust for life and spent more than a year living at home with her parents and turned inward. Slowly, she came out of her sadness when she realized singing was her gift that brings joy to others. Martin is currently doing voiceover work and musicals and creates original music on the side.
Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, Niall Horan and Blake Shelton all vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon as the Knockouts continue on The Voice on April 24 at 8 p.m./ET on NBC. The Playoffs begin on May. 1
