Divas! We know what we’ll be doing – aside from celebrating our Divalicious’ EIC birthday today! We’re all jazzed up for tonight’s season five premiere of Empire on FOX!

So what do you need to know before you sit down to watch the Lyons do what they do best? Here are three nuggets to get you up to speed.

The show picks up two years AFTER season four finale. The Lyon family took quite a hit at the end of last season, including a hostile takeover. Two years have passed, and they are determined to get back on top. Knowing the humble beginnings which started the Empire dynasty, we think it will be a successful endeavor.

A character is set to “die.” So, according to the teasers for this season, Lucious is looking over a coffin and saying ΓÇ£IΓÇÖm sorry.ΓÇ¥ Jussie Smollet, who plays Jamal Lyon, has promised that this seasonΓÇÖs story will be ΓÇ£groundbreaking.ΓÇ¥ But don’t be fooled into believing that someone is actually dead, as there have been no major casting exits announced over the past few weeks.
