Let’s face it, sometimes your man deserves a meal that Julia Child’s would whip up (over a course of days) in the kitchen. And since honey we ain’t sweating 13 hours over some coq au vin, we’ve found the perfect place to leave it up to the experts: Brasserie 8 1/2 in midtown Manhattan.
When one of my best guy pals breezed through New York City for a night, I had to show him I was in the know. I booked lunch at this upscale French bistro. This really is where. ladies who lunch chow down. Armed with our glasses of Sancerre, the Brasserie 8 1/2 staff was ready for us to get down to business.
We started with a Kabocha Squash Soup that was so smooth, rich and delicious, we could have ended the meal right there.  Mais non, there was so much more to come.
For my main dish, I ordered the Roasted Branzino This fillet is perfectly is accompanied by expertly wilted kale that that just was just the right light midday bite.
My pal was much more adventurous. He ordered Saucisson Chaud, a hearty dish of sausage and potatoes, ┬áone of the restaurant’s signature French dishes and pomme frites. I’m not ashamed to say he had to get a doggie bag.
While we would have been content right then and there, our server scolded us and said it’s not truly dejeuner without dessert! So we dipped into Warm Molten Chocolate Cake.
You’re probably thinking, “DivaGals, I love my man, but I don’t need a lunch for two to break my bank! Don’t worry girl… Brasserie 8 1/2 offers a two-course Prix-fixe lunch for $29 per person!
