Remember Kida Burns, a.k.a Kida The Great, from his glorious win on So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation? Well, he’s got a whole new toe-tapping project. The talented star is starring in the original musical Howard High, and his role has him dancing… and rapping!

Tubi is celebrating Black History Month with a full-length movie of the popular series that premiered on the network in 2020. Kida plays Trevon, a professional dance student who helps his fellow musical students compete against a rival school in order to save their arts program. There’s plenty of drama, along with incredible singing and dancing.

We caught up with Kida to learn all about his new role and mastering how to rap. He also reveals which person has made the biggest impact on his life (bring the tissues!).

Directed by Chris Stokes, Howard High also stars Chrissy Stokes, Anthony Lewis, Earanequa Carter, Deonte Jackson, Keith Sweat and more.
