What We’re Watching Tonight: Champions on NBC!

Divas! If you are in the Northeast, you probably spent yesterday and this morning digging yourself out our latest nor’easter. So we say give yourself a break and watch this show tonight!

THURSDAY, March 8

Champions SERIES PREMIERE (9:30 p.m., NBC) We thought we’d go through withdrawal without our dose of new mom Mindy Kaling on our screens. Thank the stars that she’s back with her new series Champions. Created by Kaling and Charlie Grandy, the show explores the relationship between father and son – a son who is out and proud. Mindy plays the recurring role of Priya, who’s been parenting her love child Michael for the past 15 years. Michael’s dream is to be a big star on Broadway, so Priya decides to have him live with his NYC-based father – who never knew the kid existed and isn’t exactly in a position to take on the role of caretaker. Mindy brings some very familiar faces from her hit series The Mindy Project to this new series, including adorable #WBWD Anders Holm and Fortune Feimster. We love that the show isn’t afraid to show a young teen who is one, proud of his mama, and two, living his authentic life.
