Christie’s Auction Gift Guide: Watches, Bangles and Wines, Oh My!By Maureen Martin | December 4, 2019 | Lifestyle
Gal Approved! luxury because … why not? It’s Christmas time and you’ve earned an indulgence!
BAGS. Christie’s auction one-of -a-kind gifts are gorgeous. And we want one-of-a-kind everything in every color! Let’s start off with pocketbooks and lux skateboards. I don’t skateboard now but if I was gifted, hint-hint, with a 10K skateboard, off I would go! If you enter the auction and win these items it could set you back anywhere from $3000 to $40,000. “The collection of Supreme is presented alongside the most comprehensive selection of limited-edition handbags ever presented at auction spanning custom ‘horseshoe’ Hermès, runway pieces by Chanel, artist collaboration pieces, and more. The online sale will be open for bidding from Nov. 26 to Dec. 10.”
WATCHES. Who doesn’t want a Rolex? But there are so many more amazing timepieces to select from. “Christie’s New York’s Important Watches and American Icons auction takes place on Thursday, Dec. 12. The auction offers a carefully curated selection of over 150 distinct lots, all highly sought-after for their historical notoriety, fresh-to-market condition and extreme rarity, with estimates up to $600,000.” Highlights include modern, vintage and sport watches from Rolex, Patek Phillipe, F. P. Journe, Omega, Richard Mille and more!
JEWELRY. Bling me out! These are historic jewels worn by uber-wealthy, royalty and elite in ages past. Now you too can sparkle regally with rings, necklaces, and bangles that will stun onlookers. Make sure you travel with security if you are the lucky one to offer the winning bid. Prices range from $100,000 to $4 million. “Dec. 11 auction of Magnificent Jewels and the concurrent Jewels Online auction from Dec. 2 to 13, which together present over 1,000 lots. The live auction will offer over 450 lots featuring a notable selection of colored diamonds, colorless diamonds, and gemstones, alongside important signed pieces by Suzanne Belperron, René Boivin, Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels.”
WINES. A huge collection with a few that are over one hundred years old and ready to be opened and shared. Rufino, one of my favorites, is on the list. “The sale opens with a remarkable collection of Château Lafite-Rothschild, spanning vintages 1960 through 2016 and offered in various formats.” The auction starts on Dec. 11.
