Anika Noni Rose has got a brand new look, right out the 1960s.
The Princess and the Frog actress is starring in The Watsons Go To Birmingham, the Hallmark Channel Original Movie to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights movement.
Based on Christopher Paul CurtisΓÇÖ 1996 Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Honor award-winning book The Watsons Go To Birmingham – 1963, this historical fiction tale chronicles a road trip the Watsons family takes from Flint, Mich., to Birmingham, Ala., in 1963, where they encounter prejudice and violence, including the devastating 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, which claimed the lives of four innocent young girls.
The Watsons Go To Birmingham also stars David Alan Grier. Catch the premiere on Friday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Channel.
