Rihanna has being doing a ton of press for her new kids’ movie Home, where she plays a lonely girl befriended by alien. A lot is riding on this project for Rihanna and producer Jennifer Lopez — opening the two global stars to a new career in front and behind the camera.
Well, the initial film reviews are out, and they are not good.
Variety says the feature, “seems likely to annoy parents and underwhelm investors,” while Slant magazine declares it’s a “mess of forced zaniness.”
The Hollywood Reporter seems to put a nail in the coffin, stating that while the film “distinguishes itself with some inspired voice casting ΓÇö recruiting Rihanna ΓǪ 2 0th Century Fox release will likely not provide the big box-office boost DreamWorks Animation needs.”
While the professional critics may not be the biggest fans of the film, audiences who have had a sneak peek feel differently.
Says yvonnefrasca: “I saw this with my 10 year old. We both loved the movie. The characters are adorably cute and funny and you can’t help but like the characters.” Jannaujokas adds, “Great movie for families…”
Seems like parents are overlooking Rihanna’s raunchy musical career isn’t stopping parents — who are buying tickets — from treating their little ones to this intergalactic journey. And that means dollars, dollars, dollars!
