ENTERTAINMENT GAL: Jill Scott Talks Motherhood and Her Ample Assets Onscreen!

Jill Scott stars in the new romantic comedy Baggage Claim as outspoken best friend Gail. Entertainment Gal spoke to the star about her character’s “assets,” on balancing work and motherhood and how not to sabotage yourself in a relationship.

Why she did the film. I read the script, and I thought it was nontraditional ΓÇô it wasn’t stereotypical at all. It’s a great story and it could be anybody, any race of people. When you can exclude the color, that’s good writing, and that excited me. I saw the cast and thought, this is a party I want to be at.

What’s great about her character. Gail is silly and funny and brazen. It’s something I’ve not done, and thought this is good.

On her boobies being center stage. I didn’t think about it twice. I really didn’t at all. It’s something Gail would do, so there was no reason for me to worry about it. That’s the great thing about acting.

On balancing work and motherhood. I’m not single, I’m unmarried. When it comes to raising my son, I have a village and it’s built on love, and they assist in any way they can. Some people I pay because I feel their time is worth something, and I don’t want to take them for granted at all. God blessed with me with a family, some are blood and some are not. That’s the only way I could do this.

What women do to sabotage a relationship. I can only speak for myself, but one is dating the same dude that’s not right for them. Not taking time out between relationships. When things don’t go right, it’s not just the other person. You have to hold yourself accountable, and that’s the hardest part.
