Fashion Friday: Rebecca Kudryavsky Runway!
By Delaina Dixon | September 17, 2010 | Food Fashion Style, Gals On The TownThis week, Fashion Gal hands over the column to Sports Gal, who wants to dispel the myth about girls who love sports AND fashion…
One of the myths Sports Gal wishes to shatter is the idea that women who like and are knowledgeable about sports arenΓÇÖt girly girls, ’cause IΓÇÖm about as girly as it gets. Little black dresses, strappy sandals, perfume, makeup, hair, the whole deal, thatΓÇÖs me. In that vein, Sports Gal took a break from the games this weekend to attend a debut fashion show on Saturday, Sept. 11 at The Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue.
Rebecca Kudryavsky launched the Behcca Kay line with elegance and class. The Grand Ballroom was softly lit. A jazz band played in the background as attendees walked around looking for seats, greeted friends and generally absorbed the ambience. Backstage, there was organized chaos as the models readied themselves.
Rebecca made last minute adjustments as Chris Noth — yep, Mr. Big and the eveningΓÇÖs celebrity host — entertained his entourage with witty quips. Among Mr. NothΓÇÖs companions were former NY club owner Noel Ashman and George Wayne, contributing editor for Vanity Fair and the eveningΓÇÖs co-host.
RebeccaΓÇÖs clothes have a whimsical quality that translates to femininity and flirtiness. Her dresses manage to be both demure and sexy at the same time, allowing a woman to express her coyness through her clothing, the equivalent of batting her eyelashes. They are definitely dresses for occasions, but fortunately they are the type of dresses one wears simply to celebrate life.
After the fashion show, we were entertained by InterscopeΓÇÖs new artist, Jared Evan. The evening ended with a cocktail hour for the guests and Rebecca basking in her moment on the red carpet as photographers snapped away.
