GAL APPROVED! NYFW Fall ’16: Chong, Liu & Mendez! Plus: Textured Tresses & Angelo David!By The DivaGals | February 19, 2016 | Gal Approved
Check out these global stylemakers who are changing the face of fashion!
JASMINE CHONG. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Jasmine knows how to mix bold lines with soft draping. Her Fall 2016 collection, in muted earth tones, is a collection of pieces that are sculptural and romantic. We loved her use of velvet in a slim pant design, as well as a strapless gown, pictured up top. A filmy grey blouse what the perfect top for a serious sharp suit. Simple classic pieces that would work in any wardrobe.
DAN LIU. Feminine, floaty and flirty are the perfect words to describe Dan Liu’s girly collection of knee-length dresses and coats. Utilizing a palette of black and cream, punctuated by bold prints, this Canadian designer who taps into his Chinese and Japanese heritage for his designs has mastered clothing that makes a girl feel elatedly girly.
WALTER MENDEZ. What would you wear to a masquerade ball in a European country? Walter Mendez, of course. At the Art Hearts Fashion NYFW Fall/Winter 2016 at The Angel Orensanz Foundation we witnessed satiny fabrics, sequins and sparkles on floor draping gowns in opulent shades of ruby, gold, black and midnight blue. Now all we need is a masked Prince Charming ΓÇô to chat corporate takeovers!
TEXTURE ON THE RUNWAY. For a dose of “I’m every woman,” we loved the TEXTURED presentation featuring a showcase of curls, coils and waves during New YorkΓÇÖs Fall 2016 Fashion Week, and highlighted one of our personal favorite designers, Project Runway alum Sammy B. Her way around fashion is tasteful and curve friendly. We learned about a ton of products being designed for curly-hair texture, and went home with a gift bag of goodies that will keep our textured hair in styles for days!
ANGELO DAVID SALON. Fashion Week can be a killer! So we always make a point to set aside a stop at Angelo David Salon. During a 20-minute visit Luxury Gal got a thoroughly relaxing manicure in a warm metallic shade and delicious coffee in Zen-inspired surroundings. TV DivaGal got her face beat with a smokey eye, perfect for front row seating at fashion shows.
