GAL APPROVED! Gets Dressed: J.J. Gray Boots, Iris Apfel Socks, Wazal Couture Jackets!By The DivaGals | October 21, 2016 | Gal Approved
WEAR. Adventure Gal attended the first J.J. Gray Trunk show called “Country Sole” during NY Fashion Week. My friend Jessica Perdomo, who also hails from the┬áDominican Republic, is founder and CEO of J.J. Gray, a revolutionary shoe┬ácollection of handcrafted riding boots and┬áOxfords. J.J. Gray┬ápartnered with curly hair expert Ouidad and was hosted by Lisa Alter for the premiere event.
These shoes are built to last, working with time-honored cobblers in the rural pueblos of┬áAndalusia and hundred-year-old manufacturing traditions. Want a pair? You can only get them online — and only a limited supply are made every season. Check out J.J. Gray’s referral program to earn a pair of shoes┬á(tell ’em the DivaGals sent yah!).
WEAR TWO (get it?). We love to be happy, from our head to our toes. HappySocks has collaborated with fashion icon Iris Apfel for her new HappySocks collection. At a party held at Gramercy Hotel Rooftop, we saw the fashion legend herself in action in her signature glasses as she introduced the fun, colorful and whimsical designs that will make you smile every time you look down at your feet. Get yours at happysocks.com.
WEAR THREE.We’re digging that 2016 seems to be the year to love all things African. Ayissi Nga Joseph-Marie is the creator of the brand Wazal Couture., pictured up top! The designer, who hails from Cameroon, calls his current collection Ova T├⌐t├⌐. This collection is inspired by a Cameroonian slang — “ova” — which means bigger and noble person, while “T├⌐t├⌐” refers to chic and bourgeois. We’d also use the word chic to describe the amazing and modern appearance of the clothing. Ayissi mixes mediums of African prints and leathers. If you are like us and love a fashion that borders on art, this is for you! We are ordering the camo leather jacket … it’s hot, haute, hawt!
