GAL APPROVED Weekend! McDonald’s New Bites; Great Haircare & Kevin Smith’s “Geeky” New Show!
By DIVAGALS | February 10, 2012 | Entertainment, Gal ApprovedCHEW. In Hollywood, even McDonald’s throws a launch party. That’s why Entertainment Gal was at Siren Studios to celebrate the launch of McDonald’s┬« new Chicken McBitesΓäó. VIP guest Christina Milian — dressed in BCBG Generation and Dolce Vita shoes — and the rest of us nibbled on Chicken McBites — McDonaldΓÇÖs version of popcorn chicken — and like all things Mickey DΓÇÖs they are addictive. I definitely had a few too many! The alcohol sponsor was Voli, a low calorie vodka. Now I admit to being skeptical about how good a low calorie spirit could be, but the Voli drinks were on point. I recommend giving them a try, especially if you are watching your calorie intake. You can use the low calorie drink to justify an after-party splurge! Connor Cruise worked the turntables and kept the people grooving. But the highlight of the night was the performance by Salt-N-Pepa. Even though it makes me sound like a geek, they were awesome (us too, girl!) The ladies had everyone dancing and singing along with all their tunes. Bad Girls Club star Natalie Nunn was seen shaking it on the dance floor, as was 90210‘s Tristan Wilds from 90210 and Laz Alonso from A&EΓÇÖs Breakout Kings. Be sure to stop into McDonaldΓÇÖs and give the McBites a try.
WATCH. You may be surprised to find Luxe Gal hanging with comic book lovers, but I appreciate anyone who has a passion for something. So I joined Kevin Smith, executive producer of AMC’s new unscripted series, Comic Book Men, which follows Kevin’s New Jersey-based comic shop and the people who love being there, on staff and off. I sat at the family table, where the discussion was about parenting and the commute from the Jersey Shore to Manhattan. Kevin Jersey shore life is serene and pastoral in comparison to the goings on in the lives on that other Jersey Shore. The show’s cast comes across as lovable neighborhood guys. Kevin loves Geek culture and was happy to work with AMC because he sensed that his fellow comic geeks would come across as great pals who happen to love comic books and the store. The stars are friends who Kevin has known for over 25 years, so you really are getting a slice of his life. Catch Comic Book Men, series premiere, Sunday, Feb. 12 at 10 p.m. on AMC.
STYLE. Inspiration Gal wondered why Optimum Care Deep Conditioning Masque was called a masque when I first looked at the product, but when I opened it and squeezed it into my hand it was clear: the creamy rich texture is too thick to just be called a deep conditioner. I believe this is the thickest conditioner I’ve ever used; it’s almost mousse like in its consistency. After washing my hair, I applied a palm size amount to my hand. I combed the conditioner into my hair making sure I had even distribution. I then slipped into a plastic cap and sat under a dryer for about ten minutes. When I rinsed out the conditioner my hair felt soft and strong. When I combed my hair prior to wet wrapping it there was no excess shedding! The next day, my hair had a lot of body and was still very soft. This is one masque I won’t mind getting under on a weekly basis.
