Going To Napa? Stay at the River Terrace Inn

Visiting Napa Valley? Don’t forget to spend a few hours in the town of Napa. It’s the principal city of Napa County with┬áa population of just under 80,000. It has true small-town feel with artisanal shops, quaint restaurants and charming streets that are ideal for bike rides or leisurely strolls. It’s also the home of Wine Spectator Magazine!
We did a scouting trip to Napa in May to map out our next visit and to check out upscale but intimate locals for our couple’s getaway, which would also be great for destination weddings. We stayed at the charming River Terrace Inn┬áwhich is located just steps away from downtown Napa. River Terrace is so warm and inviting that it reminded us of a bed and breakfast, but the property offers a heated pool, gym restaurant and outdoor patio seating as well. We slept like lambs on a perfect mattress beneath luxurious linens that made us feel like royalty.
River Terrace’s charming little touches really won us over. Like the bamboo string tie on the toilet paper (stylish and practical!) and the thick towels and robes awaiting you — all the little details that only a superior hostess would think of. The staff is smart, friendly and knowledgeable. They treat you like you are an old friend returning home.
Our room had a lovely terrace that overlooked the lake. There are other nice surprises like complimentary bikes, and your in-room snacks include a nice selection of local wines. From Monday to Friday make sure to be back at the hotel by 5:30 for the daily complimentary wine tasting each day, which is hosted by one of the local wineries.
Room service is available during dining hours. If you are traveling and know you may be arriving after dinner hours, call the hotel and arrange to have some appetizers, like a cheese plate, waiting for you when you arrive. Enjoy it along with fine wines on the terrace as you take a few minutes to exhale.
On the weekends you can enjoy live music during the complimentary wine tasting happy hour from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Visit their website for more details on upcoming events. To make your trip a one-of-a-kind experience, speak with the concierge desk to arrange wine tours, spa appointments and shopping excursions.
Into celebrity spotting? Look out for The Real Housewives of Orange County; we hear they have been shooting scenes nearby. You may also run into some pro-athletes and tech billionaires.
Girlfriend, get away, visit Napa and have some wine!
