Laverne CoxΓÇÖs Secrets To Style (Or Why She Looks So Good In Rocky Horror Picture Show On FOX!) EXCLUSIVE!

Laverne Cox is everywhere! SheΓÇÖs playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in FOXΓÇÖs retooling of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, airing tomorrow. SheΓÇÖs also got the new series Doubt, coming to CBS. And she looks fabulous in both!

I asked Laverne her secrets to style at the CBS/CW/Showtime Party during TV Press Tour Summer ΓÇÖ16, and she had this to say. ΓÇ£My philosophy is fit, fabric, proportion and silhouette — no matter what height you are, things have to fit you properly.”

Laverne advised starting with proportion and the fabric, ΓÇ£hopefully itΓÇÖs luxurious,ΓÇ¥ she exclaimed. ΓÇ£The shape has to be flattering for you.ΓÇ¥ And you must own your size. ΓÇ£ItΓÇÖs really wonderful being tall,ΓÇ¥ declared Laverne, who is just shy of 6 ft.

ItΓÇÖs certainly working for Laverne in her reincarnation of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, created by legendary costume designer and six-time Tony winner┬áWilliam Ivey Long. He told Fashionista magazine that “Dr. Frank-N-Furter, as played by Laverne Cox, [would be]┬á60 percent Grace Jones, 30 percent Tina Turner and 10 percent Beyonc├⌐.”┬áThere was also a little David Bowie thrown in for good measure, and it shows in the picture up top (hello Miss Long Legs!).

Loving  Laverne’s abstract-stained lab coat? Ivey says Dr. was inspired by a “Joan Crawford look with the shoulders. It’s an homage.”

We canΓÇÖt wait for the H&M-inspired version (hint, hint H&M!).

The Rocky Horror Picture Show airs Thursday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
