La Reina del Sur Is Back For Season 3

The powerful drama opens four years after the second season. Teresa Mendoza is behind bars in the U.S. for those murders of three DEA agents, but not for long. A dramatic prison break allows her to return to a covert world powered by alliances and secret deals, and more importantly, her beloved daughter Sofia.

“The third [season] has nothing to do with narco-trafficking; it has nothing to do with dealing drugs,” teased La Reina star Kate del Castillo.”Now she’s a mother. She’s much more mature.”

Being a mother drives two of Teresa’s most impressive traits. “It does make her vulnerable, but I always say, there’s no strength if there’s no vulnerability,” Castillo shares. “You have to have both, and one feeds the other.”

Le Reina del Sur returns to Telemundo in October 2022.
