Our resident apartment gourmet Luxury Gal has uncovered a weight loss secret. Here’s her story!
I had a few containers of lentils in fridge. Lentils are a rich source of numerous essential nutrients, particularly dietary fiber and protein. Plus, one cooked cup is only about 230 calories. I decided to get creative and came up with a super easy recipe.
It tastes great, and I realized after a half cup serving with salad and a small serving of animal protein I was completely full and could NOT go for seconds. That makes lentils a great weight loss secret.
So what’s my filling delicious recipe? See below!
Saute one chopped onion.
Throw in dashes of turmeric, cumin, curry and fresh herbs.
Add 3 cups pre-soaked (softened) lentils.
Pour in one jar of Masala – I like Trader Joe’s Masala Simmer sauce.
Simmer, stir, cover and cook for 5 minutes.
Serve with brown rice and a salad.
You can add a animal protein if you like, but lentils have the second-highest ratio of protein per calorie of any legume, which makes it a perfect meat substitute.
