The original first lady of Bad Boy Entertainment Misa Hylton (she’s P. Diddy‘s first baby mama!) shows us why being a successful fashion stylist is more than just pulling a few cute pieces off the rack.

Hylton, who’s been the styling secret behind trendsetters such as Lil Kim and Missy Elliott, says the Misa Hylton Fashion Academy is the place where leaders and stylists are produced alike. “Do you know how much to charge clients? Do you how to put together an invoice?” Hylton asked the eager fashonistas-in-training.

Inside a packed house at Taj II in NYC, Ty Hunter — stylist to Beyonc├⌐! — spoke on the Misa Hylton technique. “You have to know who people are and you have to have a knack for understanding individuality,” he pointed out.

MHFA┬á students are taught how to identify their own strengths and niches while focusing on image consulting, personal shopping, fabric analysis, photoshoots and wardrobe styling.
