Perfect Plus One: Montauk, N.Y. Celeb's Long Island Playground!

Rock the Look‘s Maureen Tokeson-Martin recalls her posh weekend out in the celeb-infused Long Island getaway!

“Escaping the hustle and bustle of New York City every once in a while is a must. So last weekend, my husband and I hopped into our pick-up truck for a three hour drive to Montauk, N.Y.

Located at the northern tip of Long Island within the city of East Hampton, Montauk has the fourth oldest lighthouse in the United States and a population under 4,000. Of course, most of those just happen to be the rich and famous.

We didn’t score an invitation to Robert DeNiro’s oceanfront home in town, but we did nestle into Panoramic View for 48 hours of pure relaxation.

This exclusive resort offers studios to two-bedroom units and beach houses for rent along with luxury residences. Think VIP ocean views, crisp cream linens, hot tub!

We ate at Della Femina, ran, biked and took several walks along the very uncrowded and peaceful beach. The staff and residents of Montauk were gracious and neighborly. We took a quick trip to the local IGA grocery store for fresh local greens for a salad, sweet corn and the sweetest watermelon we’ve had this summer. My husband worked out his marathon running kinks with a 90-minute massage by a local Reiki masseuses in our hotel room while I leisurely read the paper.

And we weren’t the only ones spotted enjoying our mini-vacay.

“The floor plans are great for families and you can chose studios or multiple bedroom units, depending on how many kids and people you have along for the ride,” The Real Housewives of New York City‘s Alex McCord, who was there with her devoted hubby Simon, told us.

“It is incredibly quiet with all the amenities of Montauk just a five minute drive away. You have autonomy and privacy without a typical ever-present resort staff, but the conveniences you do want such as towel service at the beach and pool and housekeeping are provided.”

Private beaches, and famous neighbors, plus hanging with The Real Housewives. Who wouldn’t love that?
