One of the things you’ll definitely note in the new teen comedic drama Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is that Earl’s wardrobe┬áis off the charts. From jumpsuits to fisherman’s hats, he just has it going on.
Not so much of a surprise since star RJ Cyler is pretty much a young man of fashion himself. “My personal style is anything you won’t see people wear. Any piece of clothing that you give me I can make look good,” he tells us.
Aside from the thrift store being “a second home,” RJ adds that he loves Forever 21. “I have leopard print sweaters from there … Forever 21 is for everyone. I jut wish they would make the dude section bigger.”
Style bargain shopping is so RJ’s secret. “I’m never the one who’s like, ‘I need to have this expensive thing.’ I make cheap look good,” he declares.
His most prized possession? “I actually have a jumper from the movie. They made me one as a wrap gift and it has my name on the back. Me and Earl have very similar fashion sense.”
Hopefully RJ will be bringing his cool fashion sense to his next project “I’m doing an HBO show called Vice Principal with Danny McBride. I play a character named Luke, and I have a little brother named Mario — we’re lovable misfits.”
And even better?┬áWearing it while starring with┬áhis dream acting duo. “It’s a tie between Denzel Washington and Will Ferrell. If I can get some Will/Washington or some Denzel/Ferrell action, I’d be┬áset.” So┬áwould we!
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is currently playing nationwide.
