Not sure how to dress your 6-ft.-plus frame? At the Imagine a Future P&G “My Black Is Beautiful” documentary screening, we got styling tips from Taj McWilliams-Franklin and Barbara Farris, assistant coaches of the WNBA’s New York Liberty team, who at 6-ft.-3 and 6-ft.-2 respectively, have mastered their style -ΓÇô and look absolutely fabulous!
“IΓÇÖm always in heels,” declared Taj (pictured second on left). “When I was younger, I wore boys clothes a lot, and they were sagging on me. But as I got older, and realized that I was beautiful in being tall, I embraced it. It’s all about having confidence in yourself and understanding your body size.”
Barbara agrees. “I take a cue from the show What Not To Wear: Wear the size that you are, not the size you want to be,” she said. “Find pieces that fit well and accentuate your positives.”
As for great brands that cater to a tall figure, Barbara loves Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses, while Taj has found success at Forever 21. “As a tall girl, you donΓÇÖt have many options, so if you go to the store and see something you love and you can afford it, buy it,” Taj exclaimed.
Barbara also loves Franco Sarto heels (from Nordstrom Rack, she exclaimed). “If you find a shoe thatΓÇÖs not a flash in the pan, itΓÇÖs a constant that will work with what you have in your closet, get it and get it in multiple colors,” she suggested.
We concur, no matter what your height!
