Evoking images of Stevie Nicks and the seventies, the Rae Francis collection┬á is the brainchild of college pals Christina Coniglio and Ariel Lilly, who studied fashion design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Graduating in 2009, the friends cut their teeth working for other designers and in sales and PR before branching out with their own line.

The Rae Francis look is sophisticated work wear with a bohemian chic feel that can easily cross into the weekend.

A mix of luxurious fabrics like silk and leather are combined with fun detailing like slits, cut out backs and ruffles in thoroughly accessible pricing ΓÇô pieces are under $200.

“That makes it young and fun,” Christina shared with the DivaGals over a hearty breakfast of vegetable scrambled eggs, mac and cheese and mimosas at Friend Of a Farmer restaurant, where they showed off their fall 2013 collection. Their dream is these are pieces you save and become key pieces in your closet.

They may be Southern girls, but Christina and Ariel are embracing their new Big Apple zip code and manufacturing their line here. “Save the Garment Center is very important to us,” Christina shared. “Living in New York City we feel very connected to the industry and to the message ΓÇô U.S. made and N.Y. made.”
