TV DIVAGAL’s Show You Gotta Watch Tonight: Picker SistersBy DIVAGALS | August 2, 2011 | Entertainment
Does TV really need another design series? How about one that recycles, reinvents and road trips junk into precious designs?
That’s the premise behind Picker Sisters, a new Lifetime series, as interior decorators and BFFs Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen (of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition fame), travel the dusty interstates of the U.S.A. to find junk metal, wood and anything else they can convince people to part with. Tanya and Tracy are starting a business in L.A. where they will sell their transformed treasures, with the help of their contractor, Alan, who’s got some really bigΓǪ tools.
Premiere show stop? The state of Texas, and just as expected, the junk is bigger there. The girls actually find an entire house they wheel and deal to buy! Then there’s Clyde, a cool Texan with a silver ponytail and ostrich boots who, when asked what do you technically do, replies “I technically do like I please.” You can’t make those kinds of characters up!
What’s also great about this show is its adorable reality stars-in-the-making who actually glow over their amazing finds. There’s the element of discovering how to turn your own junk into treasures. And this series is totally environment-friendly. A bonus reason to watch: Tanya and Tracy’s stylish work wear. I’m salivating over Tanya’s chocolate pleated shorts with a sheer printed polka dot top and stiletto booties. Maybe these design divas should search for vintage fashion to sell too!
Check out Picker Sisters, premiering Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 10 p.m. on Lifetime.
