TV SHOW TO WATCH: Don’t Trust the B*$%& in Apt. 23!By Maureen Martin & Delaina Dixon | April 10, 2012 | Entertainment
Everyone’s got a bad roommate story, but unless you’ve walked in on her having sex with your fianc├⌐ on your birthday cake, June wins. So goes the start of ABC’s new smart and witty series (Don’t Trust the B In) Apt. 23, premiering tonight. We had Friends in the 90’s … well, (Don’t Trust the B In) Apt. 23 is the unfriends!
The DivaGals caught a sneak peek of the series last night inside New York City’s Tribeca Grand Hotel. Quick synopsis: June moves to NYC for her Big Apple dream, only to learn her dream job has vanished (hello, embezzlement!) and is forced to move in the ultra chic Chloe, who has an interesting scam for getting quick cash from unsuspecting gals looking to make it here.
June turns out to be a formidable foe and Chloe has met her match with a roomy who doesn’t run scared but confronts, challenges and stares fear in the face. And Chloe soon realizes that she may actually have her first BFF (best female friend), even if she has funny ways of showing it. Oh, did I mention James Van Der Beek is on the show as ΓǪ. James Van Der Beek! Playing himself in a self-mocking heights, if you didn’t love or like him as Dawson you will love him playing himself.
Thanks to series creator Nahnatchka Khan, there’s a host of colorful characters on the series (literally, this cast is truly diverse!). And series scoop: we hear that the show will be reinforcing the new statistic about interracial marriage, and Mark and June will get closer than just a latte. We will be totally watching!
Apt 23 is about “frienemies” and how to cope. Take good notes; it’s a survivors guide to co-habitation! Apt 23 premieres Wednesday, April 11 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
