WATCH THIS Viola Davis Gets Away With Hotness!By Delaina Dixon | September 25, 2014 | Entertainment
If you missed our incredible interview with Viola Davis, who headlines the new thriller series, How To Get Away With Murder — premiering on ABC tonight — then that is a crime! Read it below!
Oscar nominee Viola Davis comes back to TV as the leading player in the Shonda Rhimes and co. thriller series How To Get Away With Murder. Viola is Professor Annalise Keating, a sassy and smart lawyer who encourages her students to use unconventional methods to solve a real-life who dunnit.
Now here is where things get interesting. Annalise is married to a white male, but she’s having an affair with detective Nate Leahy, played by sexy brother Billy Brown. Yep, when it comes to her sex life, Annalise is covering all shades of the rainbow. And Viola couldn’t be happier about it.
“I’m excited to be a part of a show that sees me as a woman and sees me as sexual and vulnerable. Everything that makes us women is on these pages. I don’t think I’m suppressing my sexuality and strength to just show my nurturing side. It’s all there.”
Indeed, for the actress who has played concerned mothers, housekeepers and nannies, lawyers and doctors, getting a chance to let it all hang out ΓÇô literally ΓÇô feels revolutionary for Viola.
“There is one thing I have to say and I think it’s really important to say. There is no way in the history of film or TV that you’ve seen a character like this, played by a black woman that looks like me. Not even Kerry Washington, not Halle Berry, not anyone,” she declared to TV DivaGal while rocking her Helmut Lang figure-hugging dress during the series ABC press panel last Tuesday.
“A black woman that looks like me, this is progressive ΓǪ having a dark-skinned black woman with the nose and the age and in every way, like me. This is a first.”
We can’t wait to watch you work every second of it!
How To Get Away With Murder premieres Thursday, Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
