TV UPFRONTS 2012: FOX’s Fall TV Shows to Watch!

By   |   May 15, 2012   |   Entertainment

It was a double bill Monday as the DivaGals hit the Fox Upfront 2012, where we enjoyed a rousing performance by Ms. Mary J. Blige (a Diva in her own right!). But what really wanted to see was Fox’s offering of new shows. Here are the ones we definitely recommend checking out this fall.

Ben & Kate
WHAT ITΓÇÖS ABOUT. Younger sister Kate may have always been the responsible one, but big bro Ben will finally step into his namesake when he moves in to help her raise her five-year-old daughter. Maybe.
WHY YOUΓÇÖLL WATCH. Sibling stories are always hard to resist, especially when it’s this poignant and sincere. Nat Faxon, the brilliant screenwriter behind the Academy Award-winning The Descendents, plays just the right amount of na├»ve energy that will make us all wish we had a brother like that.

The Mindy Project
WHAT ITΓÇÖS ABOUT. Mindy Kaling of The Office fame steps out of the cubicle and jumps into her own storyline as a prickly doctor who can’t seem to write the right prescription for love.
WHY YOU’LL WATCH. This isn’t a character you’re going to like right away. Mindy is brash and inappropriate at just the wrong time. But we can relate to the girl who spent her formative years watching rom-coms and hoping one day she’d find a real-life love story that had a happy Hollywood ending. We’re hoping she evolves along the way to create her own.

The Following
WHAT ITΓÇÖS ABOUT. Detective Ryan Hardy is back on the case when a deranged serial killer escapes from prison and continues his gristly murder spree in this pulsating timeline-driven psychological drama.
WHY YOU’LL WATCH. Two words: Kevin Bacon. He plays the detective back on the hunt. That’s all we need to know to tune in every week.
